Construction of Kenya’s Raila Odinga International Stadium has reached 91% completion, with authorities confirming the project remains on track for handover by the end of July as preparations accelerate for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The stadium forms part of Kenya’s tournament infrastructure programme ahead of the June 17-July 19, 2027 event, which the country will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania. Kenya’s primary venues will be the 60,000-seat Talanta Sports City and the 48,000-seat Moi International Sports Centre, with Nyayo National Stadium designated as a backup venue.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said pitch works are advancing well, with grass already planted and a fully established playing surface expected within two to three months. Auxiliary infrastructure and surrounding road upgrades are also progressing on schedule.
